Follow these 9 simple wedding beauty regime tips….

Wedding photography

Every bride wants to look their best on their big day. To achieve this, you should start a beauty regime about six months before the big day. Just a few minutes a week will help to make you feel and look fabulous on the day. A beauty regime isn’t about losing weight, it’s about looking after your body so you have perfect skin and healthy hair, which will make you feel and look utterly fabulous. It would be great if you could afford expensive creams, hair products and facials once a week, but starting a regime doesn’t have to be expensive; there are plenty of ways to look after both your body and the pennies in your pocket. Here’s a beauty regime you can follow:

Exfoliate once a week

Exfoliation gets rid of dry, flaky dead skin, allowing your skin to become silky and radiant. It’s also a really good thing to do before applying fake tan as it helps even out the colour.

Drink lots of water

This may seem like the most obvious advice, but don’t under-estimate the effect that drinking plenty of water can have on your skin. You should aim to drink at least ten glasses of water a day to hydrate your skin and help flush out toxins from your body. If you find drinking water boring try adding a slice of lemon or orange or a sprig of mint.

Moisturise

Moisturise your skin daily, especially after a bath or shower when soap can dry it out. Remember to moisturise the parts of your body which will be on display the most such as your face, neck, back, feet and hands for those all important ring shots.

Lips

Get luscious lips for your big day by brushing weekly with a dry toothbrush. This will remove dead flaky areas, leaving behind soft kissable lips. If you suffer through the winter months with chapped lips, always carry around a pot of Vaseline or lip seal to apply in an emergency.

Teeth

With the amount of photography you’ll have taken, great teeth are a must! Brush your teeth twice a day and floss one a day.

Caffeine

As part of your beauty regime, avoid drinking caffeine or at least try and cut down. Caffeine not only stains your teeth, it also contains toxins that can dry out your skin.

Hair

Keep your hair in great condition with regular visits to the salon in the months leading up to your wedding.  Having your hair trimmed every six weeks will stop you from getting dry spilt ends. A weekly or fortnightly hair conditioning treatment will also improve its appearance and strength.

Feet

Don’t neglect your feet from your beauty regime, especially if you are wearing a pair of pretty open-toed shoes where they will be on displayed. Exfoliate once a week to get rid of hard, dry skin. Try to moisturise your feet daily and especially after exfoliating.

Nails

Keep your nails in tip-top condition for that all-important ring shot by trimming and shaping at least once a week.

5 wedding dress shapes. Find the perfect fit…..

Wedding dress shapes

Pear

A pear body shape is characterised by a larger hip and bottom area, compared to a slender top half and small bust.

Dos:

– A strapless dress with a nipped-in waist and A-line skirt is your ideal style.

– Draw attention to your top half using spaghetti straps and halter necks.

Don’ts:

– Stay away from tiered, fishtail and sheath styles as they will make your hips look bigger.

Apple

An apple body shape typically has a thick stomach and waist area, which can make the torso look rounded or straight up and down.

Dos:-

An empire-line style with a ruched waistband will create a high waistline under your bust, making your body look longer and slimmer, if you have fuller chest area this style would not be suitable.- Look for dresses with an inner corset that cinches in at the smallest point on your waistline, flaring out into a gradual A-shape.- A deep V-neck will create a flattering, vertical line.

Don’ts:

Trumpet-style dresses will work against your body shape; they emphasise the area where you’re widest and flare out at the legs and knees – where you’re slimmest.

Hourglass

An hourglass body shape is the most desired female form and one that fashion designers most often think of when they are creating an outfit or dress. Your bust and hips are in proportion (the same size) and you have a narrow waist.

Dos:-

An A-line dress with a slightly longer torso will show off your balanced figure if you’re slim, while curvier hourglasses look great in styles that emphasise the waist.- Look for dresses with scoop, V and square-necks to support a big bust.

Don’ts:-

As your top and bottom halves are already balanced, avoid adding weight (i.e. large bows).- Look for a big sash or bow right at the waistline, or if you want embellishment on the gown itself, opt for pretty detailing at the bottom of the skirt, instead.

Inverted triangle

An inverted triangle body shape has shoulders that are wider than the hips, creating an upside-down triangle shape.

Dos:-

Thick straps, deep Vs and loose sleeves all help broad shoulders look smaller.- Scoop or V-necked styles will make large chest areas more in proportion.- Balance your wider top half with an A-line or ball gown skirt.- A sheath dress can show off slim hips, but you’ll need a shoulder and bust-slimming top half to balance out your shape.

Don’ts:-

Stay away from puffed sleeves, halter necks and off-the-shoulder styles as they will make your shoulders look broader.- If you do want to cover your arms, look for dresses that are slim-fitting and in a delicate lacy material.

The ideal Veil for you….?

Wedding Veil

Traditionally the bride wore a veil to hide her face from the groom until the last moment as a form of modesty. Today many brides still wear veils as an accessory rather than to hide their face.Veils come in many different lengths and in a number of tiers. Below are some of the most popular lengths and styles.

54 inch veil

This veil is a good length for brides who want to create some height and impact. It reaches to the shoulder and can come in a number of tiers to create volume.

72 inch veil

This is one of the most popular lengths of veils as it reaches the waist and creates movement. It can come in a number of tiers and is good for brides of all heights.

108 inch veil

This length reaches to the floor and creates a beautiful, traditional look. Most veils at this length have three tiers – the first ends at the shoulders, the second at the waist and the third at the floor.

126 and 144 inch veils

The longest lengths possible, these veils add a ‘wow’ factor to any wedding dress. If your dress has a little detail on the back then this length is the perfect choice for you – just keep in mind that you may want to remove it at the reception when you hit the dance floor!

Tip:

Why not save some money and buy a second hand veil, which you can personalise by adding lace trimming or ribbon to match your wedding dress!

Browse Portfolios and Make a Short List

Before making your final decision, always browse photographer’s online portfolio to get a good idea of the pictures they take and how they edit them. Their name might be familiar to you, and they may come well recommended, but if you don’t like their style of images, then you won’t be happy with your own wedding photos.

Arrange to Meet the Photographers you Like

Once you have a few photographers you would like to meet, make a short-list and cut it down from that list with meetings and portfolio book viewings. You should check out and meet several photographers to see if your chemistry fits and if they are able to perform the style of picture you would like. It is a good idea to like the photographer as a person and be comfortable around them; you are going to be seeing a lot of each other before, during and after the wedding.

Ask to see a Complete Wedding Set

A photographer is only going to show you the best of the best of their images, so ask to see an entire wedding set. This should show all the pictures they have taken around a wedding and gives you a better idea of their style of working. Also, ask questions about their experience, ask about their vision for your wedding pictures and how would they describe their work.

Compare your Quotes

A professional photographer who has a solid reputation is going to cost more than one who doesn’t give their best work. Take a look at the quote and what you will receive for that price, for example, proofs, prints, albums, DVDs etc. If you don’t need a certain extra, ask for it to be taken out of the quote to reach a better price for you.

Get References

If you have narrowed it down to one or two photographers you would like to hire you should get references. Call at least two customers and ask if they were happy with the service and product they received and do a Google search to find out if there have been any complaints against them.

The best images are the ones that retain their strength and impact over the years, regardless of the number of times they are viewed.
